A new podcast marking ZSL’s 200th anniversary will share first-hand accounts of dramatic human and wildlife encounters.
Wildest Moments is hosted by Ben Fogle and launches on Thursday 19 March, with new episodes released on the third Thursday of each month through to December 2026.
The 12-part series features stories including lions rescued from war-torn Ukraine, a dolphin pod protecting a father and daughter from a shark, and a woman racing to save her horse from treacherous sand.
Guests include wildlife presenter Megan McCubbin, Big Cat Sanctuary Director Cam Whitnall, and Nicole Graham, who spent three hours keeping her horse calm after it became trapped.
Other contributors include Chris van Tulleken and lifeguard Rob Howes, whose swim with his daughter in New Zealand changed when a great white shark appeared nearby.
The series is produced by Peanut and Crumb for Zoological Society of London in partnership with Mountain Warehouse, as part of the charity’s 200th anniversary.
Founded in 1826, ZSL was established to grow understanding of wildlife and has continued that work for two centuries.
Ben said: “It has been an absolute joy to sit in the studio and hear these stories of people’s wildest moments for ZSL’s 200th anniversary podcast. Be it a tale of an encounter with a domestic dog or a wild grizzly bear, what came through in every conversation I had was people’s enduring awe and wonder at the natural world.”
In one episode, Ben is joined by his father, Dr Bruce Fogle, to discuss the family’s connection to ZSL and London Zoo, where Bruce worked in the veterinary hospital.
Kathryn England, Chief Executive Officer of ZSL, said the podcast celebrates moments that connect people and wildlife, reflecting the vision of founder Sir Stamford Raffles when he established the organisation in 1826.
The first three episodes will be available from 19 March on ZSL’s website and on major podcast platforms.
