The Final Cut is back today with a second season focused on the Paranormal Activity film franchise.
The horror rewatch podcast returns with regular host and creator Grace Cordell joined by a new co-host, Alice from Truly Criminal, to examine every instalment in the series.
Across the new season, Grace and Alice revisit the Paranormal Activity films, analysing the jump scares, plot twists and defining moments that helped shape one of the most commercially successful horror franchises of recent years.
Grace Cordell is also the creator of REDRUM True Crime, which has passed six million downloads. She said: “Paranormal Activity redefined horror for me. There’s something thrilling about feeling like you’re watching something private and experiencing that with a cinema full of people who feel every teeny spec of tension with you.
“This season, Alice and I are diving into how it did that, why the sequels never quite made the same bang, and just why we’re still SO obsessed with it all these years later.”
Alice said the early films shaped her interest in the genre. “Revisiting the series now has been both nostalgic and surprisingly revealing; while I have such vivid memories of certain instalments, it’s been just as exciting to rediscover the ones, I’d either never seen or barely remembered, and getting to break them down with Grace has made the whole experience even more interesting and enjoyable.”
The second season is available from today, with new episodes released every Wednesday.
