Two limited series from ABC Audio and ABC News’ 20/20 will examine separate murder investigations when they launch as podcasts this spring.
Bridge of Lies, hosted by Nightline co-anchor Juju Chang, launches on 10 March and explores the disappearance and murder of 19-year-old Sarah Stern in New Jersey.
Sarah vanished in December 2016 after her car was discovered abandoned near a bridge overlooking the Shark River.
What authorities initially believed to be suicide later became a homicide investigation after new evidence revealed a personal connection to the crime.
The podcast includes recordings of interviews with investigators, 911 calls and audio from a police sting operation that helped expose the person responsible for Sarah’s death.
The series marks Juju Chang’s first project as a podcast host after more than a decade reporting for Nightline.
A second podcast, Blood and Water, launches on 21 April and focuses on the cold case murder of Washington, D.C. resident Leslie Preer.
Hosted by national correspondent Stephanie Ramos, the series examines the 23-year investigation that followed Leslie’s death in 2001 when she was found murdered in the shower of her home in the Washington suburbs.
Investigators initially focused on Leslie’s husband as the main suspect before DNA evidence later revealed the presence of an unknown male at the crime scene.
Blood and Water draws on original police tapes as well as interviews with detectives who worked the case and with Leslie’s friends and family.
The podcast follows the long wait for answers experienced by Leslie’s daughter and the investigative techniques that eventually led to the identification of the killer.
Both series will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music and other podcast platforms when they launch.
