A new video podcast will accompany Race Across the World, offering immediate reaction and behind the scenes discussion after each episode.
Broadcaster and DJ Tyler West will host Race Across the World: The Detour, joined by series four winner Alfie Watts, who will share travel tips and practical advice drawn from his experience on the show.
The weekly video podcast will be released on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds straight after each episode airs, beginning today, 2 April.
It is designed to follow the latest developments in the series, reflecting on key moments and journeys as they unfold.
Each episode will feature a mix of guests including travel creators, comedians and well known fans of the programme. They will discuss destinations, share personal travel stories and respond to the experiences of contestants taking part in the current series.
The first episode includes appearances from Kola Bokinni and Molly Rainford, with Yinka Bokinni contributing to a bonus episode available on BBC Sounds.
The Detour is a companion to the main programme, exploring both the practical and emotional sides of long-distance travel, while giving additional context to the challenges faced by participants.
New episodes of Race Across the World: The Detour will be released weekly, immediately following each broadcast of the TV series.
