Queer dating podcast launches with Amy Spalding and Gareth Valentino

A new podcast exploring queer dating stories will launch on 28 April with a double episode release.

It Started With A Kiss is hosted by Amy Spalding and Gareth Valentino, known from I Kissed A Girl and I Kissed A Boy, and is produced in partnership with Tinder and TwoFour.

The ten-part series focuses on real dating experiences within the LGBTQ plus community, with guests sharing personal stories from pre-date rituals through to memorable romantic moments.

Each episode will feature a guest discussing their ideal date and reflecting on relationships, whether they are single, dating or navigating more complex situations.

The opening episodes include Christine McGuinness and Joshua Cavallo, with further appearances from Tia Kofi, Rosie Jones, Nathan Henry and Cat Burns across the series.

Alongside guest interviews, Amy and Gareth will share their own experiences, covering topics such as past relationships, awkward dates and personal challenges.

The podcast will also include interactive elements, including a segment developed with Tinder where guests respond to dating scenarios and preferences to build their perfect match.

Amy Spalding said: “We are in a time where giving platforms to queer stories are more important than ever. This pod is spotlighting needed voices and experiences so that those on similar journeys can relate and know they’re not alone.”

Gareth Valentino added: “It feels more important now than ever that there are platforms to tell queer stories. On this new podcast, Amy and I will be talking to people from across the LGBTQ+ community about love, dating, chaos and heartbreak.”

The series will offer open conversations about modern dating, including regrets, lessons and personal milestones, while maintaining a conversational and informal tone.

Produced by the team behind the original television formats, the podcast extends the I Kissed A Boy and I Kissed A Girl brands into audio, with a focus on storytelling and discussion. It will be available to listen to on all podcast platforms, and watch on YouTube weekly from Tuesday 28th April.
