Audible reveals star-studded Pride and Prejudice audio drama podcast

Audible and Brock Media are to produce a major new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

This new production will feature an all-star cast and a unique interior narration from Elizabeth Bennet’s perspective.

The Audible Original launches globally on 9 September 2025, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of Austen’s birth. It will be available in English, with versions in Castilian Spanish, French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese to follow.

BAFTA-winner Marisa Abela leads the English-language cast as Elizabeth Bennet, joined by BAFTA and BIFA nominee Harris Dickinson as Mr Darcy. “What I love about this adaptation is how it lets us hear her inner world in such a vivid, intimate way,” said Abela. “It feels both timeless and fresh.”

Dickinson added: “Playing Mr. Darcy was an amazing experience… being part of such a talented cast made it even better.”

The production also features Will Poulter, Jessie Buckley, Toheeb Jimoh, and Glenn Close as Lady Catherine De Bourgh. Bill Nighy and Marianne Jean-Baptiste voice Mr and Mrs Bennet, with a supporting cast that includes Sophie Wilde, Patricia Allison, and Bertie Carvel.

The audio drama is adapted by Lulu Raczka and directed by Dionne Edwards in her audio debut. It includes immersive sound design by Brain Audio and an original score by Grammy nominee Morgan Kibby.

Aurelie de Troyer Head of Regional Content Europe at Audible said: “It’s remarkable how Pride and Prejudice has stood the test of time globally to be one of every generation’s favourite love stories.

“Lulu Raczka’s script is thrilling and conveys all of Jane Austen’s energy in an engaging, modern way.

“Through the intimacy of audio, we have the unique ability to make the passion and romance truly electric and Marisa Abela and Harris Dickinson’s chemistry as Elizabeth and Darcy is undeniable.”

Details for the other language editions and their casts will be revealed later this year.

Pride and Prejudice is available to order now on Audible. Membership may be required.
