Black Healing Remixed The Podcast returns for a second season

Black Healing Remixed: The Podcast, from the Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective, is back for its second season.

Hosted by Yolo Akili Robinson and Natalie Patterson, this season will continue to redefine black wellness with conversations that blend ancestral wisdom with today’s modern problems.

Yolo Akili Robinson is BEAM’s Executive Director, an award-winning author and facilitator. Natalie Patterson is BEAM’s Director of Training and Programs, a teaching artist, and an acclaimed poet.

Each episode celebrates black healing in all its forms while giving listeners the language and practical resources to embrace their own healing journeys.

“This season is giving insight into community and lived experience, tips on turning pain into promise and of course, laughter and a good time,” says Patterson, underscoring the podcast’s mission for honesty, joy and growth. 

 Guests lined up for the series include:

  • Actress, vegan lifestyle influencer and author Tabitha Brown, who shares her journey to success and how she remains grounded by embracing her Southern roots.
  • Emmy and Peabody award-winning author of Madness: Race & Insanity in a Jim Crow Asylum Antonia Hylton, who unpacks the troubling history of Crownsville State Hospital and its reflection on modern mental health and prison systems.
  • Courtney B. Vance, Dr. Robin L. Smith and Devin Michael Lowe explore black masculinity, mental health and the power of vulnerability.
  • Poet and novelist Morgan Parker discusses her latest book You Give What You Pay For, navigating personal struggles and systemic injustices.

Season two also features Dr Jennifer Mullan, author of the national bestselling Decolonizing Therapy: Oppression, Historical Trauma & Politicizing Your Practice, and Dr Evan Auguste, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts. 

The first episode featuring Antonia Hylton discussing the history of Crownsville State Hospital, released today, 30 January, coincides with Black History Month in the USA, explores the legacy of systemic injustice while celebrating the resilience and reimagining of Black healing.

New episodes of Black Healing Remixed: The Podcast are released on the last Thursday of each month on all podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music. The episodes are also available to watch on YouTube.
