Award-winning presenter, Colin Murray has launched four new episodes of his 52 podcast starring football legends Emile Heskey, Shaun Wright Phillips, Sir Geoff Hurst, and Pat Nevin.
In the unique format, a deck of cards forms the basis of the discussions with 52 cards, each with a question, meaning no interview is ever the same and the interviewee determines the questions they face.
The podcast was recorded at Grosvenor Casino venues across the country, in front of a live audience, where the sporting guests opened up about their careers, highs, lows, and personal lives.
Sir Geoff Hurst recorded his episode in the casino in Reading South where he shared his thoughts on the current England squad’s attitude and performance under Southgate. He also talks about the most influential person in his life, his father, and the effects he had throughout his childhood and career.
During the live recording in the Piccadilly casino, Shaun Wright Phillips told all on what it was like to be managed by Fabio Capello and provides fascinating insights that substantiate the fiery Italian’s reputation. He also shares hilarious anecdotes surrounding some of the most infamous moments of the fearsome former England manager’s tenure.
In Emile Heskey’s episode, which was recorded in Coventry, he discusses how he initially “preferred athletics” and specialised in long jump before embarking on his football career. He also talks about how money in the football industry has changed over the years.
Pat Nevin sat live in front of an audience at the casino in Merchant City where he answered the question, “what two minutes of your career would you like to relive?” His answer goes back to when he played in the European Championships Under 18s final.
Colin Murray and Pat also discuss the “worst penalty ever taken in history” that “follows Pat round like a bad smell.” Pat talks with honesty and humour about moving on from the incident.
