Comedian Maisie Adam shares personal stories and food preferences on the latest episode of Dish from Waitrose.
Hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, the episode covers Maisie’s recent move into her first home, alongside reflections on her career and everyday life.
Maisie describes the stress of renovating a property while temporarily living with her parents, saying, “It’s just rubble, at the moment. It’s so stressful.”
She adds that returning to her childhood home has brought back old dynamics, including unexpected moments with her family.
The conversation also explores her early working life, including a job selling ice cream after university while trying to break into standup comedy.
Maisie recalls receiving news of reaching the semi-finals of a comedy competition while working in a van, forcing her to take time off to perform.
Food remains central to the discussion, with Maisie sharing her love of savoury pies and smoky flavours, as well as her preference for salmon.
She admits, “I really like smoky flavours,” and jokes about her taste leaning towards strong, bold profiles.
There are also firm dislikes, including noodles and peanuts, which she says she finds overpowering. In contrast, she highlights simple comforts such as cheese on toast with brown sauce as a favourite indulgence.
Drinks feature heavily, with Maisie discussing her fondness for an Aperol spritz and white wine, particularly Picpoul. She reflects on discovering the wine on holiday and bringing large quantities back home.
The episode touches on her experience hosting the British Podcast Awards, where she describes the practical challenges of managing winners coming to the stage during the ceremony.
Maisie also talks about her current tour, titled Whatsherface, and explains how audience interaction shapes each performance. She says the live environment allows for a different show every night, depending on who is in the room.
