Christiane Amanpour’s first podcast as part of a major new deal with Global, will be Christiane Amanpour Presents: The Ex Files with Jamie Rubin.
Christiane is joined by her ex-husband, former U.S. diplomat and Assistant Secretary of State, Jamie Rubin for a look at the world today, told by two people who’ve lived its defining moments from the perspectives of press versus government.
Told from the perpective of their 20-year marriage and subsequent divorce, the series explores the biggest issues of the day and the historical moments that shaped them.
Topics range from Donald Trump’s return to office, to the escalating global economic crisis, the war in Gaza, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine – all examined through lived history on opposite sides.
Across the series, there are stories never told before – from untold diplomatic backchannels to editorial clashes and deeply personal moments. Alongside frank political debate, there’s humour, insight, and surprising common ground.
Christiane Amanpour said: “Jamie was in the room where decisions were made. I was out in the field where the action was taking place.
“We were married for twenty years and divorced for seven. Now we’ve decided to pick up the conversation again because The Ex Files is about finding clarity in the chaos, understanding how we got here, and having the conversations we couldn’t always have before.
“If we can do that, maybe there’s hope for the rest of the world too.”
This is the first series to be released under the Christiane Amanpour Presents banner – a new podcast strand from one of the most influential voices in journalism.
Christiane Amanpour Presents: The Ex Files with Jamie Rubin will be available on Global Player and all major podcast platforms from Tuesday 13 May.
