A new golf podcast series launches this week featuring in-depth interviews with leading figures from sport and entertainment.
Talk Birdie To Me is from the team behind Golf Is Ruining My Life, with hosts Tom Green and Tom Price focusing on conversations about golf careers and experiences.
The first episode features 2016 Masters winner Danny Willett, who reflects on his victory and shares insight into preparing for one of golf’s biggest tournaments.
Speaking ahead of this year’s Masters, Danny explained his approach to the build-up, saying: “I never play the week before Augusta.”
He went on to describe his arrival routine, adding: “I’ll fly out on the Saturday, maybe clip a few Saturday afternoon, go and sit in the Champions locker, usually have a beer, sit on the balcony, put the jacket and enjoy myself.”
Danny also discussed the atmosphere at Augusta, including the iconic drive into the course. “That drive is just a different level, you get goosebumps when you drive down, the practice area is like golfing heaven,” he said.
The episode also covers the Champions Dinner, where past winners gather during Masters week. Danny shared details of his own menu, saying: “Yeah, we had mini cottage pies to start… prime rib, Sunday Roast, Yorkshire puddings, all the bits, and then apple crumble, so very very British.”
Reflecting on the event, he added: “It’s a pretty short dinner these days… it’s one of the best traditions in golf in my opinion, but there is a tournament.”
The new podcast launches today, 8 April with new episodes every two weeks across Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube, featuring guests from across golf and the wider entertainment industry.
Future episodes are set to include Lee Westwood, Alex Horne, Dame Laura Davies and Jamie Murray, as the series explores both the highs and challenges of the sport.
