Heartstopper’s William Gao stars in new podcast Disorder

A major new English language multi-cast production for Disorder (‘Sindrome’), from best-selling Italian author and social media favourite, Rokia has been released by Audible.

Part dark romance, part fairy-tale, the new Audible Original follows the lives of Olivia, Sia, Derek and Edgar – four young people with traumatic pasts, each searching for their own way to heal.

Brought together by an unorthodox doctor, the group must face a series of demanding challenges deliberately designed to make them confront their demons. But as they process their pain and re-open familiar, old wounds, can friendship and love prevail and guide them through?

The cast line-up features Diane Guerrero (Orange is the New Black, Encanto), William Gao (Heartstopper, Crescendo), Freya Allan (Witcher, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) and Connor Swindells (Sex Education, Emma).

This is the first time the novel has been translated into English and that Rokia’s work has been made available to English-speaking audiences.

Disorder – originally published as Sindrome – was an instant hit in Italy when it was published in 2023, as young writer Rokia followed up her bestselling debut, The Truth Untold (La Verit Nascota).

Sensitively tackling issues around mental illness, such as self-harm, anorexia and PTSD, the novel has received widespread praise, particularly among Italian Gen-Z audiences and on BookTok, where Rokia has become one of the platform’s most influential writers.

Rokia’s Disorder is available exclusively on Audible from today, 7 November.
