Jimmy Carr hosts new comedy podcast co-produced by BBC Studios and Netflix

BBC Studios and Netflix have launched a new comedy podcast, The Big Pitch with Jimmy Carr.

In each episode, guest comedians must invent and pitch a film idea based on one of Netflix’s more obscure sub-genres from “crime movies from the 1970s” to “dysfunctional family comedies starring a strong female lead.” Carr plays the host with final say on whether each pitch gets the green light or is rejected.

The podcast features contributions from well-known comedians including Romesh Ranganathan, Phil Wang, Nick Mohammed, Ahir Shah, Kerry Godliman, Michelle Wolf, Chris McCausland, London Hughes, Asim Chaudhry and Jamali Maddix.

Jimmy Carr said: “By night I’m a stand-up comedian but by day I have a proper job in real show business. I commission movies for Netflix! So, if you’ve ever seen a movie you liked on Netflix – you’re welcome.

“This podcast gives a glimpse behind the scenes of the rigorous pitching process and it’s also a good excuse to mess around with some very funny friends.”

The Big Pitch with Jimmy Carr launches globally today, Wednesday 28 May. All episodes will be fully visualised and available on the Netflix Is A Joke YouTube channel and audio versions will be available across all podcast platforms.
