Many Rivers podcast celebrates British black music and voices

A new podcast from Warner Music Entertainment is shining a spotlight on the history and cultural impact of British black music.

Many Rivers is hosted by author and cultural historian Lloyd Bradley alongside poet and music creative Rotimi Skyers. Each week, they welcome pioneering artists into the Warner podcast studio to reflect on the legacy and influence of British black music.

The first series features a range of guests, including Soul II Soul founder Jazzie B, saxophonist Courtney Pine, Cookie Pryce from the influential rap duo Cookie Crew, and rising R&B star Jaz Karis.

Also featured, are Kenny Wellington and Breeze McKreith of Brit-funk band Light Of The World, and Lionel McCalman, who led the renowned Nostalgia Steelband.

The series includes roundtable conversations around key moments, musical inspirations, and the broader cultural stories behind these artists’ work.

Bradley and Skyers guide lively, thoughtful discussions, often exploring the deeper impact of black British creativity across generations.

The aim of the series is to provide an open space for spirited conversations, honest reflections, and musical deep dives that both document and celebrate the people and sounds that have helped shape modern British music.

Many Rivers is available now on major podcast platforms.
