New podcast DEADPOD explores society’s morbid curiosity with death
DEADPOD is a brand-new podcast hosted by Absolute Radio’s Andy Bush that explores society’s morbid curiosity with death.
Andy and his co-host Brian Murphy are looking to change the fact that death is often taboo to talk about, as they explore every side of it in this weekly podcast.
Famous deaths in TV soaps, villainous deaths in popular fiction, dead technology, strange burial rituals in ancient civilisations, incredibly weird historical deaths…they’ll cover it all.
The first episode will focus on human sacrifice. Did you know that The Wicker Man – popularised in the 1973 film – can be traced back to accounts by Julius Caesar, who described Celtic Druids building large wicker effigies, filling them with offerings or sacrificial victims, and burning them as part of religious rites?
DEADPOD is produced and distributed by Lock It In, a production studio specialising in talent-led, comedy and entertainment podcasts.
It was founded in May this year by the trio behind podcast quiz Guestimators: Bush, Will Nichols (former VP, Content Development at Universal Music) and Matt Cutler, the sports journalist behind the documentary The Pirates vs The Premier League.
DEADPOD launches on Wednesday 13 November.
