New podcast launched by journalist and broadcaster explorers UK politics

Award-winning journalist and broadcaster, Marverine Cole has launched a new podcast exploring UK politics, focusing on local council elections and voter registration.

Voters are dissatisfied at the infighting, alleged cronyism, MPs apparent and blatant pursuit of self-interest, and long trails of inappropriate behaviour. The electorate is feeling there is nowhere to turn. The Trouble With Politics podcast delves into these issues.

The latest episode sheds light on the local council elections and the impact they have on our communities.

It asks the questions on voters’ minds in the West Midlands, delves into the developments of a community leader dedicated to her borough of Manchester and also uncovers the case of Bristol considering axing its mayor in favour of another system.

A broadcaster and journalist for 21 years, Marverine Cole hears from elected politicians at local and national level, those vying for election, those who’ve tried and failed at politics, journalists, experts, academics and more. All of them providing a revealing glimpse into their experiences, and context to what politics looks and feels like for those under-represented in Britain.

“I have never been a political reporter or correspondent, so I don’t have all the solutions – but some of my guests just might” said Marverine.

The limited series offers new perspectives, new voices and views exploring the current political landscape. It also provides a platform to those who feel unrepresented and overlooked by conversations happening elsewhere.

The Trouble With Politics is available on Apple and Spotify.
