The second series of the BBC 5 Live podcast, Defoe & Deeney Football Firsts has launched on the players channel of BBC Sounds.
The 12-part series sees former Tottenham and England striker, Jermain Defoe and former Premier League striker Troy Deeney revealing the ups and downs of life as a Premier League footballer.
Discussions between the pair include topics such as their ‘first’ experiences of the playing on telly, hitting the headlines, being dropped from the first team, and being booed.
Other footballing first encounters include a players’ first transfer, the first-time football broke their heart, missing simple goal opportunities and their first football trip abroad.
Jermain Defoe says: “I’ve really enjoyed doing another a new series of Football Firsts with Troy and giving fans an insight into what it’s really like being a professional player. It’s been nostalgic talking about some of the firsts in this series and I can’t wait for the listeners to hear them.”
Troy Deeney also adds: “I am very happy to pick up season two with Jermain. We enjoyed making the first series together and the amount of love we got just walking down the street from the public really drove us to continue the show.
“This new series will really take it up a level, revealing more stories that you’ve never heard before, while being humorous and vulnerable at the same time. We covered a lot of ground in these episodes and we’re sure you will enjoy listening to them.”
Defoe and Deeney Football Firsts is available every Monday from today, 4 December on the Players Channel on BBC Sounds.
