Broadcaster, entrepreneur and endurance athlete, Spencer Matthews has announced that he’s launching a new podcast series, Untapped.
This follows the news earlier this month that he was stepping away from co-hosting the Spencer & Vogue podcast with his wife Vogue Williams.
Produced by the team behind High Performance, Untapped is a weekly series that will see Spencer explore human potential with his guests.
Jake Quickenden will join him as co-presenter on the hour-long podcast starting on Monday, 27 January, which will have visualised episodes available on its own YouTube channel.
Spencer said: “After four months of development and recording, I’m delighted to finally announce my next move in podcasting.
“Running through the Jordanian desert several months ago was a transformational and meaningful time in my life, during which I had a moment of clear realisation. I want to change the nature of the content I create to include more of my interests and passions.
“Untapped is the realisation of this ambition and I would love you to join me in this new chapter which promises to be fun, uplifting, motivational and even inspirational at times as we hear from the greatest athletes, scientists, and thinkers in the world to truly discover what potential we all have within us.”
Last year, Spencer hit news headlines throughout the world when his ‘30 in 30’ Great Desert Challenge saw him become a Guinness World Record holder for successfully running 30 marathons in 30 days on sand, through the Jordanian desert.
He continued: “Running 30 consecutive marathons opened my eyes to what the human mind and body is capable of. Despite the gruelling conditions, I fell even more in love with pushing myself.”
Jake Humphrey said: “Watching Spencer take on and conquer his 30 in 30 challenge was nothing short of extraordinary. His unwavering determination and infectious excitement about his achievement have inspired so many, proving that anything truly is possible.
“I’m excited that, at Whisper, we are embarking on some exciting TV projects with Spencer. And at High Performance, collaborating with him to create a compelling podcast that helps us all uncover our untapped potential.”
Jake Quickenden said: “I have known Spencer for nine years and seeing the pure joy that this gives him is addictive! And I am one such person who shares his excitement – I’ve ran marathons, fought in a cage and am not shy about challenging myself.
“I’ve been enthralled by our guests and have learnt so much already. Everyone is going to blow your mind, and you’ll hear something you’ve never heard before.”
Alongside the podcast, Spencer will be creating a physical community experience for listeners and followers. Later in the year, Untapped will host a range of events and challenges, embracing Spencer’s love for running, exercise and being the best version of ourselves.
Spencer continued: “Our aim is to build a community so that we can all share and be inspired by one another – where we challenge ourselves and help each other to achieve incredible things. The response that I’ve had since 30 in 30 has really shown me that this community exists – sharing this passion with others is something that I feel very strongly about.
“I am proof that it’s never too late to change your habits, reframe your boundaries and be truly open to your potential. Come and join us!”
The focus on Untapped is the reason behind Spencer’s decision to step back from all his other podcasts.
In November he and Jamie Laing announced the end of their run of 200 episode of 6 Degrees, as well as stepping back from Spencer and Vogue in December. He will also no longer be recording episodes of Big Fish in order to solely focus on and produce Untapped.
Untapped will be available from next Monday, 27 January.
