Voiceworks makes programmes celebrating sixty years of Doctor Who

Two programmes to mark sixty years of Doctor Who have been produced by Manchester based Voiceworks for the BBC.

The shows look back at the history of the programme, which has gained fans across generations and features some legendary guests, including Katy Manning and Steven Moffat.

Doctor Who: The Welsh Connection is the first Voiceworks production to join the celebrations of TV’s longest-running science fiction series.

The episode, which airs on BBC Radio Wales today, Thursday 23 November, sees presenter Katherine Jenkins OBE take listeners on a journey through time to explore the special role that Wales has played in the legacy of Doctor Who.

The second programme, Doctor Who: 60 Years of Friends and Foes, airs on BBC Radio 4 tomorrow, Friday 24 November.

Presented by broadcaster, comedian, writer and dedicated Whovian Sue Perkins, it explores how Doctor Who has reflected our social history both on and off screen.

The show provides everything from archival footage to exciting interviews with Doctor Who legends, including former companions, writers, and the voice of the Daleks, Nicholas Briggs.

Both programmes are produced by Voiceworks Producer Jamie Griffiths and form part of the company’s strategy to work with major brands.

Kyle Evans, Director of Content at Voiceworks and Executive producer on the programmes said: “We have enjoyed crafting these sixty-year anniversary programmes for the BBC Doctor Who and thank you to Katherine Jenkins OBE and Sue Perkins for presenting them.

“For us to work on something that is helping to celebrate the legacy has been very special.  Here’s to the next sixty years!”

Both programmes will be available on BBC Sounds shortly after broadcast.
