Dave Berry is back with a new season of Dadpod

Absolute Radio breakfast host Dave Berry is back with his helpful and humorous parenting podcast Dadpod, sponsored by Disney+.

Launched today (7ย June), Season 4 will see Dave joined celebrity guests as they navigate the wonderful but sometimes scary world of family life.

Each week Daveโ€™s guests will share their own personal experiences from their childhood, as well as offering a good amount of advice to guide Dave on his journey through parenthood.

This season begins with comedian and author Dom Holland, who has recently become better known as Tom Hollandโ€™s dad, something the writer is quick to address in the podcast as the pair discussed Domโ€™s book โ€˜Eclipsedโ€™, which looks at his own forays into fame and how his fame was eclipsed by Tom.

โ€œSome people say to me are you jealous of your son, which I think is the most unusual question to get asked because I absolutely herald what’s happened to Tom,” says Dom. And it’s even more beautiful because there was no plan. Tom didn’t go to a stage school. He went to a school like me in London โ€ฆ So, the reason why I think the book works, is because I had meticulous plans to write screenplays, and become Richard Curtis. All laid out for me. I’d sold movies to America and done all that stuff. And with the little lad Tom, there were no plans and yet he has confounded all the odds. And has become Tom Holland the actor, who everyone knows now.โ€

As for parenting, Dom offers some advice: โ€œIt’s really easy to be polite. And I’ve always said to my kids growing up, look, if you know someone’s name use it,” he says. Say hello, say goodbye, say please, and say thank you… I think it’s easy for your kids to stand out by just being polite. Now, that is difficult if the kid’s shy. And I didn’t have shy kids. But my boys were polite. And I think adults marked them out. Now whether it had a bearing on them getting on in the world, I don’t know, but I just think it’s a good way to be.โ€

Other guests in this series include Ade Adepitan, Tom Chaplin, Anthony Horowitz and Jack Dee.

Dave Berryโ€™s Dadpod is available each Tuesday from Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, the Absolute Radio app,ย absoluteradio.co.uk, and all mainstream podcast providers.ย
