CrimeCon makes northern debut with Manchester event this September

CrimeCon, the world’s leading true crime convention, is heading to Manchester for the first time with a one-day event on 27 September at etc.venues Piccadilly.

The inaugural CrimeCon Manchester will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carmine Grimshaw, and will include a day of discussions, panels, and interviews with some of the UK’s most respected figures in the world of true crime.

Partnering with the TRUE CRIME channel, the event will feature live sessions, exclusive insights, and opportunities for attendees to meet experts and creators in the field.

Headlining the line-up are Consultant Forensic Psychologist Kerry Daynes and retired Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton, known to TV viewers from The Real Manhunter.

Sutton will lead a CrimeCon first – an exclusive session on what it is really like to lead a murder investigation team.

Another major highlight will be a panel on the Manchester Arena bombing, chaired by David Collins, Northern Editor of The Times and an award-winning novelist. He will be joined by medical professionals from Wythenshawe Hospital to reflect on the attack’s devastating impact.

Duncan Craig OBE, Chief Executive of Manchester-based charity We Are Survivors, will host a deeply personal session interviewing survivors of sexual abuse, reflecting CrimeCon’s ongoing focus on victim advocacy.

Meanwhile, historian and Sunday Times bestselling author Professor Carl Chinn MBE will explore the legacy of The Real Peaky Blinders, and an expert panel will debate the brutal reality of crime in the North of England.

The programme will also welcome criminologists, podcasters, journalists, documentary makers, and authors, bringing together a wide cross-section of voices for true crime fans.

Nancy Baughen, Event Director of CrimeCon UK, said: “Fans of true crime are not macabre fans of serial killers or psychopaths, far from it. Instead, they are sympathetic and empathetic fans of justice who are intrigued by the mysteries and supportive of the survivors.

“We have hours of wide-ranging, compelling, and informative content making it a must-attend event for all true crime enthusiasts.”
