New gameshow type podcast Here’s What You Do launches

A new play-along quiz show called Here’s What You Do brings a gameshow type format to a podcast.

The show is hosted by three friends with backgrounds in television game creation. James Smales, known for developing Picture Slam, Lingo and The Answer Trap, is joined for the first seven episodes by Dave Maguire, who created Celebrity Juice and Virtually Famous.

From episode eight, Jonny Robins, whose credits include 007: Road To A Million, Tempting Fortune and The Inheritance, takes Dave’s place. Their friend John Cantrell completes the line-up.

Each episode features three original quizzes created by the hosts, with two of them competing while listeners play along.

Those taking part can keep their own scores and vote each week for their favourite quiz via Instagram. At the end of each episode, the winning format is crowned champion.

Tipping Point presenter Ben Shephard has endorsed the podcast, posting on X, he said: “If you love quizzing (who doesn’t?) I reckon you’ll love this. I’ve worked with these guys developing TV quizzes for BBC, Channel 4 and ITV so they know their onions!”

The hosts also release a spin-off series called Here’s What You Missed, featuring unused tiebreakers, extra questions and behind-the-scenes insights. This additional show will be available every Monday from episode eight.

New episodes will be released every Wednesday across all major podcast platforms, with bonus episodes also arriving from episode eight onwards.
