Some of the most influential podcasters from the UK and worldwide are uniting with non-profit Project Everyone.
It’s a collaboration for a global initiative designed to reignite hope during one of the most critical international moments of the year.
The ‘Be Hope’ Podcast Takeover runs from 17 to 25 September, coinciding with the UN General Assembly in New York, where world leaders will address challenges including climate change, inequality, and conflict. The campaign comes as 2025 begins the final five-year push to achieve the Global Goals by 2030.
Project Everyone, co-founded by filmmaker and Comic Relief organiser Richard Curtis, is bringing together more than ten chart-topping podcasts as part of its Global Goals ‘Be Hope’ movement.
The Project says the aim is to use podcasting’s unique power to spotlight stories of progress and remind millions of listeners worldwide that meaningful change is still possible.
Confirmed shows include The Rest Is Politics with Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart, joined by England Rugby Captain Maro Itoje; Pod Save the UK with Nish Kumar and Coco Khan, featuring Choose Love’s CEO Josie Fernandez Marelli; Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth and guest author Jung Chang; and Pod Save the World with Tommy Vietor and Ben Rhodes, welcoming Tom Fletcher, UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs.
Other podcasts involved include Outrage and Optimism, Cities 1.5, Electoral Dysfunction, Political Currency, The Rest Is Money, The Week Junior Show, and How To Change The World.
Together they will bring diverse perspectives from politicians, authors, activists, and innovators. Spotify is supporting the initiative by spotlighting episodes on its homepage throughout the week.
Alastair Campbell said the project was born from listeners’ requests for more hope in difficult times. “Amid the darkness we must always search for hope,” he explained. “History has shown that even in the bleakest times, the world keeps turning, producing great people, movements and cultures. This is the moment to find pockets of hope and use them as momentum.”
Christiana Figueres, co-host of Outrage and Optimism, stressed the importance of shifting narratives: “Too often, climate stories lean towards despair.
“While the threats are real, alarmist news can paralyse rather than mobilise. This week is about lifting up the voices and movements that show progress is already happening.”
Kate Garvey, co-founder of Project Everyone, added: “For the first time, leading podcasts are coming together for hope, harnessing their powerful connection with millions of listeners to inspire action.
“With 2025 marking the final five-year push for the Global Goals, it’s never been more important to spotlight progress and remind the world that change is possible.”
