Mel Giedroyc brings hit podcast to London West End stage

Mel Giedroyc will host a one-off live version of her Sony Music podcast Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake in London’s West End later this year.

The show takes place on 16 December at the Adelphi Theatre, where Mel will guide a special guest through their dream demise in front of a live audience. The guest has yet to be announced, with organisers promising an evening full of unexpected moments.

Since launching in May, the podcast has seen Mel quizzing celebrity guests on their fantasy farewells, from Angela Scanlon’s potato buffet to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s disco-ball send-off and Eric Idle’s explicit eulogy. The live show will bring that mix of humour and dark curiosity to the stage.

Audiences can also expect a Q&A, with Mel inviting fans to bring their own burning questions about life, death and everything in between.

Speaking about the live show, Mel said: “What better place to stage a great big knees-up about death than the West End? I’ll be dusting off my halo (and maybe my pitchfork), and leading a very special guest to their dream send-off at the Adelphi.”

Tickets are available from today at fane.co.uk/will-wake-mel.
