Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez launch podcast Lost in Translation

Hits Radio presenter and actress Gemma Atkinson has teamed up with her partner, Spanish dancer Gorka Marquez, for their first podcast together.

Lost in Translation is an original Rayo Podcast that explores their daily lives as a couple and parents of two young children while navigating language and cultural differences in their relationship.

The series mixes stories from their own lives with discussions and advice aimed at helping listeners with relationship dilemmas.

Gemma and Gorka met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, and their personalities sometimes clash: Gemma’s more relaxed, messy approach frustrates Gorka, who likes everything in its place, while Gorka cannot understand Gemma’s focus on crystals rather than fashion choices.

These differences provide the backdrop for often humorous conversations throughout the series.

“Gemma and I are different, but that’s what makes us work,” said Gorka Marquez. “We bicker, we laugh, and we always find a way through. We hope Lost in Translation makes people feel less alone in their own relationship dilemmas and brings a smile to their faces.”

Gemma added: “We wanted to create something really authentic that parents and couples can relate to. Life with two kids and conflicting schedules is always an adventure, and Gorka and I definitely have our moments! This podcast is about embracing those differences and finding the funny side.”

Lucie Cave, Bauer Media Audio’s Chief Creative Officer, said: “I’ve been wanting to do something with Gemma and Gorka for a long time, and it was just a matter of timing – and persuading them to let us into their world.

“Their brilliant and hilarious family dynamics, the things they bicker about, agree on, or lose in translation, make them endlessly entertaining, relatable and warm.

“We’re so excited to welcome them into the Bauer family. We’ve already had huge success with Gemma’s Overshare podcast, and this feels like the next stage in her podcasting journey – I can’t wait to see where it goes.”

Lost in Translation launches on 22 October with a new episode every week and will be available on the Rayo app, Apple, Amazon Music, Spotify and wherever you get your podcasts.
