The acclaimed independent podcast Shifting Terrain returns for its second season on 28 October.
Hosted by Rachel Rybaczuk, the show promises to unpack the political and cultural forces shaping and dividing America’s working class.
Building on the success of its first season, the new series offers an antidote to partisan news fatigue and overly academic political debate. Season two bring deeper insights into working-class experiences.
“Shifting Terrain focused on working-class voters well before Trump’s win in the 2024 presidential race,” says Rybaczuk. “It spotlights Democrats’ shortcomings and offers a roadmap to reshape the Democratic Party and build a multiracial, cross-class democracy. This season goes further by digging into the issues capturing and dividing the working class.”
Co-Executive Producer Amanda Cowper says: “Rachel’s dynamic experience enables her to code-switch across contexts. She’s a compelling conversationalist who makes complex ideas accessible and relatable.”
The second season opens with a conversation between a progressive, weightlifting social media star and a Fox News expert, examining how media influences political narratives. Later episodes explore Christian nationalism, union power, and immigration realities – each connecting lived experiences to national trends.
Alan Minsky, Executive Director of Progressive Democrats For America, said: “It’s hard to imagine another media project that meets this historical moment as well as Shifting Terrain. It gives voice to America’s working class, as so few media projects honestly do.”
Shifting Terrain will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, and other major platforms.
