Adventure Diaries has won the People’s Choice Award for Best Podcast at this year’s Outdoor Media Awards.
The Scottish podcast, created and hosted by Chris Watson, topped more than twenty thousand votes worldwide, marking a major milestone for a show that makes outdoor adventure feel accessible and inclusive.
The Outdoor Media Awards, held each autumn at the Outdoor Media Summit, celebrate creators shaping outdoor storytelling, and the People’s Choice category is the only award decided entirely by the public. This year’s win highlights the strong connection Adventure Diaries has built with listeners globally.
The podcast includes real-life stories of exploration with practical challenges for listeners. Each episode features a guest who sets a “Call to Adventure” that can be done that week, and a “Pay It Forward” action supporting outdoor causes or protecting wild places.
This approach has helped audiences feel part of a community where adventure is defined by curiosity and participation rather than distance or danger.
Chris Watson said the award meant a great deal because it came directly from listeners. He explained Adventure Diaries was created to help people feel a sense of possibility and belonging in the outdoors, no matter their background, and added that the public vote reaffirmed why he launched the podcast.
Founded in 2017, the Outdoor Media Awards are one of the most respected honours in adventure and environmental media.
Yoon Kim, founder of the Outdoor Media Summit, said Adventure Diaries stood out for making adventure personal and achievable, showing how the outdoor community values inclusive voices that open the door wider rather than narrowing it.
