Richard Bacon returns to interviews with new success podcast

Richard Bacon has launched a new weekly podcast focused on exploring how high achievers define and reach success.

The series, Why Are You More Successful Than Me?, is available in both audio and video formats and features conversations with guests from across media, business and the creative industries.

Each episode centres on a direct question posed by Richard to his guests, examining what drives their achievements and how they interpret success in their own lives and careers.

Richard said: “I’ve missed interviewing. I’ve missed sitting down with people I’m genuinely interested in, people who are driven, who’ve built things, who’ve taken risks, and really finding out what makes them tick. Success fascinates us all. I want to understand what it actually is, and how it really happens.”

The podcast will look beyond surface-level success, with discussions covering topics such as personal ambition, defining moments, setbacks and the habits that shape long-term achievement.

Rather than focusing on his own career, Richard uses the series to explore the mindset and experiences of others he considers more successful, positioning the show around curiosity and understanding rather than comparison.

The launch line-up includes Gary Lineker, Dexter Fletcher, Elizabeth Day, Emma Barnett, Lynda La Plante, Chris Chibnall, Caroline Hirons, Chris McCausland, Ash Atalla and Miles Kane, with new episodes released weekly.

The project marks a return to long-form interviewing for Richard, following more than two decades working across TV and radio in the UK and the United States, as well as his more recent work developing global programme formats.

Produced by Yes Yes Media, the podcast launches today, 23 April, and is available on major podcast platforms including Apple, with full video episodes also released on Spotify and YouTube.
