History Hit expands May slate with podcasts and streaming titles

History Hit is adding a wide range of podcast episodes and video content across May, spanning history, culture and documentary storytelling.

Dan Snow’s subscription service will release several new long-form programmes, including Rebels: Simon De Montfort on 5 May and Rise of Augustus on 14 May, both examining turning points in political history through expert analysis.

Later in the month, Holyroodhouse: Scotland’s Royal Palace arrives on 28 May, with historian Suzannah Lipscomb given access to explore the residence’s past and its role in British royal life.

Alongside these, original productions such as Dan Snow’s Bike Tour of London and We Found The Oldest Pub In London focus on accessible storytelling, combining location filming with historical insight into the capital’s past.

Podcast output continues across multiple series within the History Hit network. Dan Snow’s History Hit will feature an episode on Lord Byron on 4 May, followed by Investigating the Nazi Massacre of Rumbula on 11 May, which examines events in 1941 and their legacy through a personal family connection.

Other shows include The Ancients, where Early Humans: Everything You Need to Know is released on 17 May, and Gone Medieval, which publishes episodes including Medieval vs Early Modern on 8 May and Absurd Medieval Deaths on 26 May.

Betwixt the Sheets will run a weekly strand titled How to Get Cancelled in History throughout May, exploring figures who were rejected by their societies, while Not Just the Tudors focuses on royal relationships in a series called Royal Favourites.

Content from Little Dot Studios’ YouTube channels also forms part of the May schedule. Real Stories will release documentaries including Death Jump: The Most Dangerous Rite of Passage? on 14 May, alongside titles covering a UK medical trial and Tibetan refugee experiences.
