A new podcast series brings a generational clash to the forefront, as Tommy Fury and his father John Fury debate the changes in modern life across ten episodes.
The series, What The Fury?!, sees the pair tackle topics such as technology, parenting, masculinity, and entertainment, each from their own perspective.
Tommy, known for his appearances on Love Island and his boxing career, represents a Gen Z outlook, while John, aged 60, brings a more traditional, old-school view to the table.
Each episode focuses on a single theme, ranging from gadgets and artificial intelligence to relationships and food. The discussions are candid, with both Furys unafraid to challenge each other’s opinions.
Tommy explained: “We didn’t agree on everything and simply roll through the questions, we actually stopped and, while we didn’t have an argument, we did have some real back-and-forth discussions on certain topics. I think that’s what made it interesting.”
John admitted that stepping into the podcast format was a new experience: “It’s actually a shock to my system as I’ve never done anything like this in my entire life. It’s been a very enjoyable experience.
“I’m learning new stuff every day, meeting new people, getting to know what they are about and getting to know their ways.”
The podcast also explores how parenting has changed. Tommy, now a father of two, shared his views on technology and children: “Having a phone is a massive responsibility. There’s a whole new world behind a phone screen, and I think children should fully understand what they’re doing before they get involved with things like that.”
What The Fury?! is available to watch on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport YouTube, or to listen on BBC Sounds from today, 14 July.
