A ground-breaking new show celebrating what it means to be bisexual launches today (7 August).
The often forgotten B in the acronym LGBT now has a fresh new voice with Bisexual Brunch airing every Friday with main hosts Lewis Oakey and journalist Nichi Hodgson.
The podcast also includes producer Ashley Byrne interviewing people talking about their own personal bisexual journeys. One of the first will be Carry On and Corrie star Amanda Barrie.
Manchester based audio production company MIM produces the show. Previously they’ve produced short docs Being Bisexual for the BBC World Service and Getting Bi with Tom Robinson for Radio 4.
MIM Creative Director Ashley Byrne says: “Bisexuality is largely erased in the news and media discourse. Characters in soaps are quickly made gay or straight – or killed off! And biphobia from both straight and gay people is sadly rife!
“Bisexuals need to know they’re not alone so they can truly express themselves, be accepted for who they are and bust some of the crazy myths that exist around what it means to be bisexual.”
The first episode of Bisexual Brunch includes a discussion on the experience of being ‘black and bi’ with rising Hollywood star David J Cork who appears in the Netflix series ‘The Politician’.
Bisexual Brunch is available on most podcast platforms or from here.
