A group of women unite to expose a serial romance scammer in a new podcast season launching on 13 April.
The Girlfriends returns with a second season titled Trust Me Babe, focusing on the shared experiences of women who unknowingly dated the same con man.
Across six episodes, journalist and host Anna Sinfield brings together women from across the United States who were targeted by Derek Alldred, a convicted fraudster sentenced to 24 years in prison in 2018 and linked to 25 victims.
The series explores how Alldred used multiple identities, including fake names, uniforms and forged documents, to build relationships and deceive his victims, often leaving them with significant financial losses and long-term emotional impact.
Anna follows the women as they piece together what happened, revealing how gaps in law enforcement response and public stigma left many feeling dismissed when they first came forward.
In response, the group formed their own network, connecting through a Facebook group where they shared information, tracked Alldred’s movements and supported each other while pursuing accountability.
The podcast highlights several moments from their efforts, including a planned intervention led by nurses in Minnesota, investigative work by two sisters in Hawaii, and a confrontation in a hospital car park in Texas.
Rather than centring on the actions of the offender, the series focuses on the women’s collaboration and resilience, and how they worked together over several years to understand the scale of the deception.
The Girlfriends is co-produced by Novel and iHeartPodcasts and previously reached a global number one position.
Trust Me Babe will be released weekly, with new episodes published each Monday following its launch.
