Historical true crime podcast investigates the Ruxton murders

Yeardley Smith, the iconic voice of Lisa Simpsons on The Simpsons and legendary Scottish Detective Tom Wood have launched a new podcast, Beyond Recognition: The Ruxton Murders.

The podcast is a historical true crime series based on the forensic science bestseller, Ruxton: The First Modern Murder written by detective Tom Wood.

Across six episodes, the series delves into the 1935 disappearance of a glamorous young mother and her dutiful maid, whose deaths resulted in one of the most important investigations the world had ever seen at that time.

On a crisp autumn morning in 1935, a brother and sister out for a walk in the Scottish countryside stumbled upon dozens of packages containing dissected human remains. Who – or what – could have done this?

Now largely forgotten, the Ruxton case grabbed worldwide attention. A real-life Agatha Christie mystery, the gruesome details of the murders would shock the public and test the ability of police to keep the public safe.

The case led to groundbreaking forensic techniques that would forever change how violent crimes are solved.

Beyond Recognition: The Ruxton Murders is from Yeardley’s podcast network Audio 99, makers of hit series Small Town Dicks. The first episode is available now on the Small Town Dicks podcast feed and wherever else you like to listen to podcasts.

Episodes are released each Friday, with an added bonus for subscribers on Patreon, who can binge all of the episodes at once.
