Hull Trains has released a new episode of its mental health podcast featuring a contestant from The Traitors.
The latest Moving Minds sees Jessie Stride join host Gemma Oaten to discuss her experience of living with a stammer and raising awareness of speech disorders.
Jessie, a hairdresser from Hull, shares personal insight into how stammering affects communication, describing it as a condition where speech flow is disrupted by repetitions or prolonged sounds.
Her appearance adds to the podcast’s aim of highlighting everyday experiences and encouraging understanding among listeners.
Moving Minds is recorded on board live train journeys along the East Coast Main Line, with guests travelling on Hull Trains services while taking part.
The video podcast format captures informal discussions, with contributors reflecting on their own mental health and the small actions they take to support it.
The series is presented by Gemma Oaten, known for roles in television dramas including Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Holby City.
Gemma also runs an eating disorder support service and uses the podcast as a platform to encourage conversation around mental health.
Gemma said: “I’ve been genuinely blown away by the amazing response we’ve had to the first episodes and being part of a project like this has been a dream come true.
“Moving Minds has given me the unique opportunity to combine those two things and I’m so pleased it’s making a real difference to people.”
Jessie added: “It was such a joy to be part of the Hull Trains podcast with Gemma. It was a really fun, honest conversation. We had a good yap, put the world to rights, and shared plenty of laughs along the way.”
Future episodes will include appearances from broadcaster Jack Marriner Brown and a Hull KR feature with former captain Chris Charles and his son Jack. The series is available on YouTube and major podcast platforms.
