iHeartMedia has launched True Crime Tonight, a new live radio format developed in partnership with KT Studios.
The show, which is broadcast across more than 20 US radio stations, is also available as a podcast the following day.
Airing live Sunday to Thursday at 10 p.m. local time, the two-hour programme will feature expert analysis, listener call-ins and real-time updates on true crime stories.
Hosts of the show are KT Studios founder Stephanie Lydecker, producer Courtney McKenna Armstrong, and crime analyst Baudi Moovan, known for her role in Netflix’s Don’t F** with Cats* documentary.
After each live show, episodes will be available Monday to Friday on the iHeartRadio app and other podcast platforms via iHeartPodcasts.
The new format is part of iHeartMedia’s ongoing “Podcast, Meet Broadcast” initiative, designed to bring podcast storytelling to radio and vice versa. iHeart says the show will serve as a one-stop destination for fans of the genre, blending the popularity of podcasting with the live interactivity of radio.
Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer for iHeartMedia, said: “The show will feature live caller interactions and real-time updates, ensuring it remains incredibly engaging and up to date.”
Stephanie Lydecker added: “The idea of connecting live with audiences who are as passionate about the genre as we are, is beyond exciting.”
Conal Byrne, CEO of iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group, said true crime remains one of the most popular podcast genres and the show aims to bring it to a wider and more interactive audience through radio.
