British investigative journalist and writer John Sweeney has set up a Crowdfunder page to help launch a new podcast, Taking on Putin.
Sweeney, who is currently in Kyiv, describes himself as ‘an old school reporter’. He has previously worked for The Observer newspaper, and the BBC’s Panorama and Newsnight. More recently, he told the story of Ghislaine Maxwell in the podcasts Hunting Ghislaine and Hunting Ghislaine: The Trial.
Now, he is looking support to start his new podcast about what makes Vladimir Putin do the things he does.
“What I’m doing is to make a podcast which helps everyone in the world understand what’s happening in Ukraine, but also I want to give a platform to the Russian resistance, in particular, my dead friends who were critics of Russia, of the master of the Kremlin,” says Sweeney.
