New 48 Hours video podcast targets real time crime coverage

A new weekly video podcast will deliver real time analysis of major crime stories as they unfold.

“48 Hours: Case by Case” launches on 17 April, extending the long running true crime franchise into a faster, more reactive podcast format designed for both video and audio platforms.

The series will release new episodes every Friday, focusing on high profile trials, breaking developments and updates in ongoing investigations, both inside and outside the courtroom.

Hosted by a rotating group of correspondents including Anne-Marie Green, Erin Moriarty, Natalie Morales and Peter Van Sant, the podcast will bring familiar reporting voices into a more immediate format.

The move places greater emphasis on timely storytelling, giving audiences a way to follow cases as they develop rather than waiting for traditional broadcast schedules.

As a video podcast, the series also introduces a more visual approach to reporting, offering viewers additional context alongside the audio experience already associated with the brand.

The launch builds on continued growth across the wider 48 Hours podcast portfolio, which includes both weekly and limited run series, as well as a simulcast of the television programme.

The brand reports a 22% year on year increase in average monthly podcast downloads in 2025, reflecting ongoing demand for journalist led crime coverage.

Existing titles include “48 Hours: Post Mortem”, which provides behind the scenes insight into each television episode, alongside several limited series exploring individual cases in depth.

Recent releases feature projects hosted by Erin Moriarty and Peter Van Sant, with multiple shows reaching high positions in podcast charts and gaining recognition from platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

“48 Hours: Case by Case” will be available via YouTube and podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify, with ad free listening offered to 48 Hours+ subscribers.
