A new podcast from Sony Music explores the peculiar death of Diane McIver and the motive behind her husband’s actions.
Tex McIver, a prominent Atlanta attorney, shot his wife Diane on what was a normal drive home one night in 2016 from the couple’s ranch in Putnum County, Georgia.
Hosted by reporter Dale Cardwell, Deadly Fortune looks into the complexities of the case and possible motives that lay beneath the surface of the crime.
Tex and his wife Diane had been married for ten years. She was a wealthy businesswoman who had been bank rolling her husband’s affluent lifestyle for years and Tex was a well-connected, prominent attorney and member in the Georgia political scene.
When Diane died from what was described as an accidental gunshot to the back, she left behind a fortune with no clear recipient.
Tex was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of murder. Yet, six years after that initial sentencing, the Georgia Supreme Court reversed the verdict, and Tex has been granted parole and will be a free man.
Through first time interviews with those closest to the McIvers and never before seen or heard footage from those involved in this investigation, Deadly Fortune explores suspicions that there was a behind the scenes deal that would award Tex Diane’s estate and make him a millionaire for killing his wife.
“I was close to both Tex and Diane,” said host, Dale Cardwell. “Deadly Fortune dives into the fascinating world of this cowboy lawyer, and how Diane’s friends were shocked to see Tex not only find a way to get out of prison but set himself up to get rich in the process.”
Deadly Fortune is available on The Binge, as well as all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
