Beyond+ is a new podcast from the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation which highlights the stories of youth living HIV positive.
More than 40 years after the start of the HIV pandemic, Beyond+ explores what is beyond the diagnosis. From adolescence to adulthood, loss to love, graduation to thriving beyond the clinic, the stories shared go beyond an HIV diagnosis, offering a broader perspective on what it means to live and grow in today’s world with HIV.
Hosted by Eric Bond, Lead Storyteller at EGPAF, in the first episode Eric talks to Aunty Botee, a trans activist and social media content creator from Lesotho. Aunty Botee shares her journey from a boy child growing up in rural village in Lesotho to a young person searching for identity to a woman living with HIV, speaking up for LGBTI people.
In episode two, Eric talks to Josephine Nabukenya nonprofit founder from Uganda who was born with HIV and the third episode sees Eric talking to Ashley Rose Murphy a young woman living with HIV in Canada.
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation was founded by Elizabeth Glaser who contracted HIV in a blood transfusion in 1981 while giving birth to her daughter, Ariel.
Released weekly, the first three episodes of Beyond+ are available now on all podcast platforms.
