New podcast investigates one of the darkest stories in British history

A new true crime podcast, The Pitcairn Trials is a chilling investigation into one of the darkest stories in British history.

Hosted by British journalist Luke Jones, the series delves into the tragic legacy of sexual abuse that has persisted for decades on the remote British territory of Pitcairn, a windswept volcanic island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, home to just 50 people.

The Pitcairn Trials explores the heartbreaking stories of generations of women and girls raised on this isolated island.

Luke Jones uncovers the culture that normalised exploitation and abuse, and the long search for justice. Survivors share their stories with Luke for the first time.

The series asks what happens in communities when those in power believe they can act without consequence, convinced that no one is watching.

The podcast sheds light on the dark realities of this isolated island community. It reveals the resilience of the victims, the systemic failures that allowed the abuse to persist, and the challenges of finally bringing these horrors to justice.

An Audio Always production, The Pitcairn Trials will be available in the Wondery+ app.

Wondery+ members will have exclusive early access to all episodes beginning 18 September. Non-subscribers can join Wondery+ through the Wondery app, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify, and start a free trial.
