Heists, Scams & Lies, is the latest series to join DMG Media’s hit true-crime podcast network, The Crime Desk.
Tucked away on one of London’s most secure streets, guarded round-the-clock by ex-military security, Formula 1 heiress Tamara Ecclestone’s £75million mansion in Kensington was thought to be impenetrable.
But, in December 2019 as the Ecclestone family were abroad for Christmas, a group of professional thieves executed the perfect burglary and vanished with £25 million in diamonds, cash and jewellery. This meticulously planned raid has since become the UK’s biggest-ever home burglary.
Hosted by crime correspondents, George Odling and Andy Jehring, this investigation explores their five year-long hunt for answers, revealing a web of secrets and ties to international organised crime.
Their search takes them across the globe as they chase leads in South America, Milan and the depths of Serbia’s criminal underworld.
The pair speak exclusively with Tamara’s husband, Jay Rutland, police chiefs and even acquaintances of the thieves themselves, to make sense of how exactly the gang pulled off such a swift and precise operation.
Across five episodes, series one of Heists, Scams and Lies attempts to solve the mystery of the Ecclestone’s missing diamonds.
Episodes will be released weekly on Apple and Spotify from today, 23 April. Members of The Crime Desk can listen to all episodes as it launches. Plus, they’ll get exclusive weekly bonus episodes of award-winning podcast The Trial, ad-free listening across all Crime Desk shows, and early access to brand-new forthcoming series.
