Sky News and POLITICO have refreshed the collaboration for their award-winning political podcast, Politics at Sam and Anne’s.
Beginning today, Anne McElvoy, Executive Editor at POLITICO, joins Sky News’ Deputy Political Editor Sam Coates as a full-time host on the newly titled podcast.
Available from 7.30am Monday to Thursday, Coates and McElvoy bring everything you need to know about the day ahead in Westminster in under 20 minutes.
The format was originally launched in September 2023 with Jack Blanchard – former POLITICO UK Editor, now author of POLITICO’s D.C. Playbook – and now combines Sam Coates’ insider knowledge and Anne McElvoy’s extensive experience in global affairs, bringing both domestic and international perspectives.
McElvoy’s journalism career began with reporting on the fall of the Berlin Wall and has since included detailed analysis and commentary of the revolving doors of British politics. Her arrival builds on a successful year for the award-winning format, which was recently recognised at the inaugural Political Podcast Awards and credited for its ‘must-know political insight’.
She joins Coates, one of the country’s best-connected political journalists, who has worked in Westminster since 2005. Coates is an RTS winner for Westminster Accounts – a series exploring the role of money in our politics – and has been nominated twice for RTS political journalist of the year. He also won Presenter of the Year at the 2025 Political Podcast Awards.

Anne will continue to oversee POLITICO’s podcast output as Head of Audio, including hosting Power Play and supervising other titles such as Westminster Insider and EU Confidential.
