Sharmadean Reid MBE to feature on season launch episode of 40 Minute Mentor Podcast

40 Minute Mentor returns this Wednesday, 15 September for a new season interviewing major figures – sharing insights into their exceptional careers.

Hosted by James Mitra, CEO of JBM, 40 Minute Mentor continues to share business coaching from some of the brightest people around – both diverse and inspiring.

In the special launch episode of Season 6, 40 Minute Mentor welcomes Sharmadean Reid MBE, former founder of WAH London, Beauty Stack and founder of The Stack World.

With a hugely successful career to date, including earning an MBE for services to beauty, Sharmadean speaks with James about her early years as an entrepreneur, including the highs and lows. Throughout her interview, she highlights that it’s always been her aim to empower women through everything she does.

Sharing the unique impact her first salon WAH nails had, not only on the beauty industry, but also the women’s entrepreneurial movement, Sharmadean says: “Although we had this fully functioning amazing nail salon, the space almost became the ‘Mecca’ for anyone who wanted to start their own business, and allowed women to connected via that energy, and vibe.

“I realised that actually what the salon did, was connect like-minded women. If you were into something a bit alternative, and cool, you’d go to WAH and know that you’d meet someone else that was kind of like you.”

She also talks about what she has learnt about scaling a business, how she wasn’t ready for it and that it eventually led to her having burnout in 2013.

Sharmadean says that she finds it satisfying to hire a nail artist who’d never had a job before, or who was on minimum wage, and then being able to watch their earnings grow.

In 2015, Sharmadean began to envision her next venture – Beauty Stack, now known as The Stack World, which came from the ambition to improve the booking systems within the beauty industry, in a new and improved visual way. She explains in the podcast, how it came about.

Other guests appearing in the series include Daisy Onubogu – Head of Network & Community at BACKED VC, Ham Serunjogi – Co-Founder & CEO at Chipper Cash, Reeva Misra – Founder & CEO at Walking on Earth and many more.

Season 6 of 40 Minute Mentor is available from Wednesday, 15 September on Apple, Spotify, Soundcloud, and all major podcast platforms.
