Spotify is launching a new part of its campaign Take A Beat which will include a hero film with London rapper and zoologist, Louis VI.
This has been launched to coincide with World Mental Health Day, today.
Spotify says that people turn to the music and audio it provides to support their mental health and wellbeing.
With the positive impacts of nature on mental health and wellbeing, Take A Beat aims to bring nature’s healing sounds into the hub on the platform where users can find a range of different nature sounds.
In the UK, lack of access to nature is affecting the poorest communities the most, who are ten times less likely to live in the greenest areas. The campaign will help to make nature’s healing sounds more accessible so that people can focus on their mental health and wellbeing.
The global campaign includes the hero film, the hub on platform, out of home advertising, plus organic and paid social across more than 20 markets including the UK and US.
As part of the campaign, Spotify will be awarding micro grants to local grassroots organisations in the UK, who are working at the intersection of mental health and wellbeing and nature.
Rapper and zoologist Louis VI, who is known for his climate activism, and whose purpose is to use sound to strengthen our connection to the natural world.
In the film, he guides us round a local nature spot to discover the healing sounds on his doorstep and work with mental health experts on the therapeutic theory of nature sounds.
Louis VI says: “Having a strong relationship with nature is so important for both our mental health and creativity. I draw inspiration from the natural world. Its rhythms, sounds and energy are often a source of healing and creativity when making music.”
To showcase nature’s healing sounds, the Take a Beat hub is filled with the best nature sounds available on Spotify – from field recordings to nature-themed albums, guided meditations to inspiring podcasts – all organised using a framework backed by science.
