The Fault Line: Dying For a Fight returns for second series

The Fault Line: Dying for a Fight is the second series of the podcast which investigates the unsolved homicide of Potland’s Sean Kealiher.

In 2019, 23-year-old Sean Kealiher, a prominent face in the anti-fascist movement in Portland, was hit by the driver of an SUV and killed.

Two years later, the homicide investigation is still unsolved. To understand Keahiler’s life and death, listeners need to step into the world of protest and street fights.

Keahlier faced off against the far-right and the police. He was at the extreme before American politics became extreme.

Hosted by investigative journalist Sergio Olmos, The Fault Line: Dying for a Fight examines Sean’s homicide by following his mother who is searching for answers and justice.

Olmos dives deep into Sean’s world, including talking to Sean’s unlikely friends, Greg and Kat McKelvey, prominent activists in the city’s Black Lives Matter movement.

The Fault Line: Dying for a Fight takes listeners inside the world of political protests through the people who’ve lived them. Episodes feature raw audio captured from the streets of Portland and exclusive interviews with the key members of Portland’s political melting pot.

The podcast creates an ‘on the ground’ feeling from the protests and rallies which led up to several pivotal encounters between groups at the political extremes.

Olmos brings his deep knowledge of political extremism to explore how Sean’s killing foreshadows the anti-police uprising that came just a few months later and why Portland continues to be a hotbed for political violence.

Host, Sergio Olmos says: “Political violence is now part of the language of American politics, whether it’s street fights between Proud Boys and anti-fascists or the storming of the U.S. Capitol. Heated debates are no longer confined to social media, but bleed into the streets. Extremism lives in the void of American life, a void that is growing.”

Dying for a Fight is the second series of the investigative podcast series The Fault Line. It follows the success of the first series ‘Bush, Blair and Iraq’ presented by David Dimbleby which was Number 1 in the UK podcast charts.

The Fault Line: Dying for a Fight is a Somethin’ Else and OPB production and available weekly from today, Monday 13 September on Apple, Spotify, Acast and all podcast providers.
