Transmission Roundhouse, the Roundhouse’s own radio and podcast station has launched six new podcasts.
Created, produced and presented by a new group of under 25-year olds, the launch marks a change for the station, which now focuses on podcasts over linear radio, inspired by the current demand for podcasts and listenership trends in the UK. It’s been estimated that 15.6 million people listened to podcasts across the UK in 2020.
The six podcasts, made by and for young people, cover a range of topics including politics, music and love, aimed at Gen Z and Millennial listeners.
Create Change is a podcast about creatives who use their work to drive social change. Hosted and produced by Olivia Hylton, she explores rich and immersive stories, and posing questions that spark conversations about creativity and society.
Don’t Drink The Pickle Juice is a podcast about success, entrepreneurship and Hip Hop. Hosted and produced by Blessing Mukosha Park, DDTPJ brings real career talk, inspired by Hip Hop’s greatest success stories.
Fluid, created and presented by broadcaster Nic Desborough, explores why “fluidity” is important for everyone. Nic gets into the nitty gritty about the “fluidity” of life and the wider LGBTQIA+ community.
Politics, gender, race and mental health… The Hear and Now looks at the intersections between music and politics, and why socio-political commentary and change is so important in the world of music. Hosted by Liv Cowle, she brings guests and conversations to the table from all corners of the music industry.
Love Is _____, hosted by Makee Ogbon, is a personal audio journal exploring love by someone who has only encountered it through the media: TV, films, music and otherwise. Makee details her thoughts on what love actually is, coming from the perspective of someone who has never been in love in “real life”.
T and Waffles: A Guide to 2021 is a podcast dedicated to questioning life’s peculiar moments and questioning dilemmas faced by young people. The series is focused on exploring what post-COVID life means for young people and the associated challenges and opportunities they now face.
