Young boy and detective’s story told in Finding Mom’s Killer podcast

Finding Mom’s Killer is a new podcast detailing a precocious young boy that teams up with a mild-mannered, middle-aged cop to solve the mystery of his mother’s disappearance.

In the series from Sony Music Entertainment and Orbit Media, host and award-winning journalist Steve Fishman explores the mysterious case of a mother’s disappearance in the small Midwest town of Mansfield, Ohio in 1989.

What he discovers is the surprising tale of a young boy, his well-respected father and a detective who went looking for answers.

Collier Landry was always suspicious of the details surrounding his mother’s disappearance. While no one believed he had information to help solve her case, Detective Dave Messmore gave him attention and the platform to investigate, creating a lifelong relationship between the two.

Through interviews with those closest to the case, including for the first time, the convicted murderer, access to the detailed investigation is revealed along with shocking revelations and the aftermath that captivated the nation for years to come.

Host Steve Fishman says: “The story of an eleven-year-old boy who decided that he had to find his missing mother grabbed me immediately.

“And then I learned that he teamed with a middle-aged detective to solve the case – the oddest dynamic duo I’d ever heard of – and I was riveted.

“It was not only the plot, but the heartbreak at the centre of it. Especially when the convicted killer confessed to us what really happened.”
