Vogue Williams hosts new podcast on parent and child relationships

The Apple & The Tree is a new series hosted by Vogue Williams, bringing together real, heartfelt conversations between parents and their adult children.

Each episode features a different family as they sit down to discuss something theyโ€™ve rarely โ€“ if ever โ€“ approached before. These are the intimate, revealing chats weโ€™d all love to have – or wish weโ€™d had โ€“ with our nearest and dearest.

This podcast features real people giving a rare glimpse into the most complex human relationship of all, between parent and child. Regardless of class, race, gender or politics, this bond is universal and shapes us for the rest of our lives…but we rarely talk about it.

Conversations coming up in the series include Patricia and Jasmine exploring the depths of inter-racial adoption and identity. Ashley and Denise navigating single parenthood and creating safe spaces. Sameer and Lak embracing LGBTQ+ acceptance within the South Indian community. Alex and Sue confronting life-altering diagnoses and unconditional love. Lois and Julie overcoming abandonment and finding resilience in adversity.

These conversations see contributors explore their pasts, confront challenges, and envision futures marked by understanding and acceptance as the podcast seeks to answer the question โ€“ Does the apple ever truly fall far from the tree?

Vogue Williams said: โ€œItโ€™s a real privilege being given a window into these familiesโ€™ lives and shared experiences – but from two different perspectives.

โ€œSo many of us arenโ€™t easily able to open up about tricky or emotional subjects with our loved ones and Iโ€™m looking forward to hearing – and no doubt learning from โ€“ some really significant moments between them.โ€

Produced by DMG Media, The Apple and the Tree will be available on all podcast platforms weekly from Friday 19 April.
